A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Lifting Equipment Operative at PD Ports within the Engineering department. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lifting Equipment Operative ensures the safe and efficient operation of lifting equipment, in line with company policies.

 

Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough, TS6 6UD

Working Arrangements: 162.5 hours per month.

Salary: £35,416.00 per annum.

 

The five main things our Lifting Equipment Operative will be working on are:

  • Ensuring all lifting equipment is fit for purpose and ready for use in all operations associated with the receiving, re-delivery, storage, and ship loading/unloading of cargoes.
  • Updating and maintaining records (Paper/Digital) to control the issue of equipment and identify items that have been lost/damaged in accordance with LOLER/PUWER and other regulations.
  • Liaising with the supervisory team to prioritise both reactive and planned maintenance/inspections to ensure that service and repair levels are maintained whilst undertaking planned inspections on designated assets in line with engineering schedules, such as wire rope, forklift load chains and tines.
  • Providing advice to operations regarding lifting equipment and its use – using the uniform load method of rating alongside the issuing of chainsaws and appropriate PPE to members of the workforce who are trained in their use.
  • Assembling lifting beams and other ancillary equipment on company locations and to provide support to other Engineering departments when requested.

 

We are seeking someone who:

  • Lifting experience and LEEA trained (both desirable).
  • Appointed person/Lift Supervisor (desirable).
  • Loose lifting equipment and wire rope examination credentials (desirable).
  • Good communication skills with an IT skill set in Microsoft office with the ability to write reports.
  • Is flexible with working shifts so that they align with vessels berthed/working.
