A vacancy has arisen for a Fleet Technician to join our engineering team at Teesport, responsible for performing skilled duties to a very high standard with regards to service, troubleshoot, repair, recovery, and maintenance of designated Fleet assets such as EV and Diesel light commercial vans, EV and diesel UTV’s, and Diesel MEWP’s (Mobile Elevated Work Platform training as required).

 

Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough

Working Arrangements: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

 

The five main things our Fleet Technician will be working on are:

  • Responding to breakdowns and failures on site, using problem solving techniques to return equipment back into service with minimum delay. Knowledge of electric vehicles would be an advantage; training will be given where applicable
  • Using diagnostic tools and your knowledge to identify and pinpoint faults in various vehicle systems.
  • Performing repairs, which may involve replacing parts, adjusting systems, or repairing components.
  • Complete routine servicing and maintenance tasks like oil changes, tyre replacement/alignment, and fluid level checks.
  • Repairing vehicular air conditioning and heating systems and working with High Voltage: In the case of hybrid or electric vehicles, working with high-voltage batteries and systems.

 

We are seeking someone who:

  • 5+ years’ experience working within a light commercial/ HGV industry following completion of a relevant apprenticeship.
  • Ability to manage your workload and supervise others including contractors as required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and people skills.
  • Experience in the port environment – desired but not essential.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills to be able to interrogate, analyse and evaluate previous/current repair information.
