As the Statutory Harbour Authority for the Teesport area, PD Teesport is vested with powers to regulate, maintain and improve the Harbour and the navigation of vessels within its 12-mile jurisdiction.
PD Teesport is therefore responsible for vessel traffic management, as well as managing the safe navigation of all vessels that arrive at Teesport 24/7, 365 days a year. Our modern harbour office is based at the foot of the Transporter Bridge and from there, our team of Vessel Traffic Services Officers coordinate pilotage and towage requirements, as well as safely navigating all vessel arrivals and departures. As part of its role as the Statutory Harbour Authority, PD Teesport also has a dedicated conservancy team who maintain and monitor water depth using a fleet of dredging vessels and state-of-the-art equipment.
In addition, PD Teesport is also a tier two oil spill responder, ensuring any contamination threats are managed effectively and efficiently in order to minimise environmental impact.
